The course is taught by members of the Tribology Group of Imperial College London, one of the largest university-based tribology groups in the world, and selected subject experts from industry.
The tribology background and the extensive experience of the presenters in teaching, combined with the strong industrial connections of the Tribology Group at Imperial College make this team well suited to delivering this Tribology course.
Professor Daniele Dini is Professor in Tribology in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Imperial College London, with research interests in all fundamental and applied aspects of tribology with particular focus on the development of modelling techniques across the scales. He currently heads the Tribology Group and holds an EPSRC Established Career Fellowship. He is a Fellow of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers and former Chair of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers Tribology Group and a Fellow of the Institute of Physics.
Dr Amir Kadiric is a Reader in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Imperial College London. His research is broadly concerned with tribology of machine elements with particular focus on failure mechanisms of pitting, micro-pitting and scuffing. His current research activities also cover EV transmission efficiency, contact mechanics and surface coatings. Prior to becoming an academic, Amir worked in engineering industry and continues to have extensive industrial links. He currently teaches Mechanical Transmissions Technology and Tribology courses at Imperial.
Dr Marc Masen is a Reader in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Imperial College London. After obtaining his PhD he spent several years in industry, after which he returned to academia. Within the field of tribology, his research ranges from on biotribology and soft materials to sliding wear and design for sustainability. Marc is the former Chair of the Institute of Physics Tribology Group and was recently awarded the Donald Julius Green Prize from the Institution of Mechanical Engineers and Imperial College President’s awards for Education and for Outreach.
Dr Tom Reddyhoff is a reader in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Imperial College. Dr Reddyhoff has specialised in developing a range of experimental methods, which he uses in combination with numerical modelling to analyse sliding interfaces and solve industrial problems. He has produced 100 peer-reviewed publications, 3 granted patents and has been awarded the Tribology Trust Bronze Medal.
Professor Guillermo Morales-Espejel is a Principal Scientist SKF Research and Technology Development, The Netherlands; Chair Professor at LaMCoS, INSA de Lyon, France; Visiting Professor at Imperial College London. PhD in Tribology from the University of Cambridge, U.K., holder of “Habilitation à Diriger des Recherches (INSA-Lyon)”, 10 years lecturer in university and 20 years of experience in rolling bearings. Author of more than 70 scientific papers and several book chapters. Associated Editor of Tribology Transactions and IMechE Part J.
